AFL Masters Hall of Fame Inducts Chris Lyndon

2 Oct 2023 by Emma Kirkham

AFL Masters are please to induct Chris Lyndon to the AFL Masters Hall of Fame

Chris has been actively involved in Northern Territory Master’s Football for 32 years, having first represented the NT at the 1992 National Carnival. 2023 will be Chris’s 31st AFL Masters National Carnival, only missing the 1995 Sydney Carnival.

He has played or umpired in every State and Territory in Australia, including a couple of Islands – Tiwi islands, Magnetic Island and of course the apple island – Tasmania.

To further demonstrate his love of the game, Chris has ventured to 12 Bali 9s, and has represented the NT Masters, playing in all age divisions as well as playing extra games with other States when the opportunity presented itself.

He has also put up his hand for the sprints and drop kick competitions, being on the top step of the podium for sprints in 2004, 2009, 2013 and 2014.

He might have missed an athletics career, as his sprint winning times were only 15 seconds outside of world record for the 75-metre distance!

Chris has been a willing and active NT Committee Member for the past 18 years and is always willing to put his hand up, and never afraid to put his “two bobs worth” in when required.

He developed another “string to his bow” in 2015 when he commenced umpiring, and has been a regular umpire at National Carnivals, Bali 9’s and also local NT games.

All of Chris’s achievements have been alongside his wife, Bev, who is by his side at every turn, supporting him on and off the field.

So, thanks must go to Bev for bringing Chris to so many Carnivals and retrieving him the ‘occasional’ coffee to keep him going!

Welcome to the AFL Masters Hall of Fame Chris!
